Is Technology Destroying Your Relationships?

Is Technology Destroying Your Relationships?

Our world has tremendously benefitted from the development of technology. Medical and scientific advances, business process efficiencies and increased profits, global marketing/communication, more effective education and increased innovation are just a few ways technology has enhanced humanity. On the other hand, technology can negatively influence our life. To just name a few - disconnecting from the physical world can lead to lack of exercise and therefore obesity and poor health, lack of social interaction/human connection, a warped sense of reality, anxiety and poor self-esteem due to comparison, overload of information, shortened attention span, constant distraction, and a sense of isolation potentially causing depression. Instead of spending time in person with family, friends and business associates, we just email, text or instant message them. It may seem more efficient, but we ultimately end up talking with or seeing others face-to-face a lot less. Yes, most of us use technology to get our work done which is necessary. However, how much time do we spend surfing the internet, reading and posting on social media, watching videos and movies for sheer entertainment etc.? Today's episode continues with the second interview in my Legacy Series. I cover a lot of ground in this interview, however, my focus is mostly on what makes me who I am at the core.  I'm often asked what makes me different or what someone can do to duplicate the success I've enjoyed throughout my career.  I'm not really different from most people; we all have similar struggles in life - ups and downs. Here are some of the things we cover in this episode: My beginnings as an entrepreneur The role that my wife Linda and the rest of my family play in my life How losing my son impacted me Lessons learned from a failed company How I came to know God Habits, hobbies and movies My advice to entrepreneurs on how to succeed And so much more

The Power Of Habit

The Power of Habit

Aristotle said, “we are what we repeatedly do. Success is not an action but a habit.” I have always been a staunch believer in the power of good habits to become successful. The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business combines scientific research, personal life-stories and journalistic interviews to demonstrate how habits affect why we do what we do. I believe that anyone seeking self-improvement will find this book helpful to understand more about the way their brain works in setting good habits and changing or eliminating negative ones. Summary In The Power of Habit, investigative reporter Charles Duhigg takes us to the edge of scientific discoveries that explain why habits exist and how they can be changed.  Taking us from the boardrooms of Procter & Gamble to sidelines of the NFL to the front lines of the civil rights movement, Duhigg presents a whole new understanding of human nature and its potential. At its core, The Power of Habit contains an exhilarating argument: The key to exercising regularly, losing weight, being more productive, and achieving success is understanding how habits work. As Duhigg shows, by harnessing this new science, we can transform our businesses,…
